A Gold-Plated Donation to Shwedagon Pagoda

MICE_Myanmar_700x459In an exclusive corner of Shwedagon Pagoda, a platform is cordoned off for your group’s donation ceremony. Guests are seated in front of the pagoda committee, a group of elected trustees tasked with the supervision, maintenance and governance of this holy site. One of the pagoda’s head monks will open the ceremony with a ritual blessing that involves dripping water on the head of each guest.

After a brief prayer and introduction, the head monk will unveil the gold plate which your group has donated. Gold plates are engraved in advance with the name of your organization, group or benefactor. Each guest is then summoned to approach the head monk, put their hand on the gold plate and receive an individual blessing – the perfect time for a unique photo opportunity.
