Charitable Restaurant Opens in Luang Prabang

Owing to funds donated by Luang Prabang Half Marathon: “La Procession” and Foundation L’Orangerie, TREE Alliance, the global alliance of training restaurants, has opened a new restaurant called Khaiphaen in Luang Prabang. Khaiphaen is named after a popular Laotian snack made of crispy Mekong River weed that is unique to Luang Prabang.

The restaurant serves creative Lao cuisine and a range of delicious shakes and cocktails within a beautiful UNESCO World Heritage city. The restaurant also has a small gift shop selling products made by families which will help keep their children in education. All profits are invested in the students who train there and the social programs which support them to secure a better future. Many students are former street youth or come from marginalized and at-risk groups
