The Corner Tower Restaurant is located just outside the Forbidden City’s northern Shenwu gate, in between the imposing fortified wall enveloping the former palace complex and the 52 meters (171 ft.) wide moat surrounding it. Formerly a large guard station, the building housing the restaurant has a history going back more than 250 years. Previously used as a large guard station, it has a history dating back more than 250 years. The building has been expertly renovated and tastefully converted into a coffee house and restaurant. It has a maximum capacity of up to 500 people with individual rooms for 12, 30, 40 and 70. There are also two terraces with space for 50 people each.
