Take a trip to Tanjung Puting National Park onbaord a klotok, a traditional wooden river boat designed to navigate the waters of Indonesia and named after the noise the engine makes – ‘klok tok tok tok’. Fitted with inboard or outboard motors, klotoks are primarily used for transporting goods or passengers up rivers. Our Indonesian klotok experience takes guests on a multi-day journey along the Sekonyer River into Tanjung Puting National Park. Established as a national park in 1982, it is composed of more than 400,000 hectares of mangrove swamp, rain forest and dense jungle.
The park is home to primates, leopards, lizards and more than 600 species of birds. Tanjung Puting is notable for both its ecological and biological diversity as well as its orangutan conservation. With the assistance of a local guide, we will search for orangutans and proboscis monkeys as well as other species of animals and birds that call the surrounding rain forest their home.
The meticulously designed X2 River Kwai Resort takes Kanchanaburi’s most famous attraction as design inspiration – the Bridge over the River Kwai. X2 River Kwai is located along the most beautiful stretch of the Kwai Noi River, with spectacular views including a backdrop of mountain ranges. Located about two hours west of Bangkok, it features a large resort swimming pool, exclusive fusion Bridge Bar and Bistro.
After opening back in 2014, there’s a new reason to revisit Kanchanaburi’s X2 River Kwai resort. Their latest XFloat Luxe Cabins come with full amenities including bathtub, private rooftop sundeck and speculator river views. Each cabin also has its own kayak, so you can head out on an adventure down the Kwai Noi River whenever you please. There are eight new rooms in total, all of which also provide a lounging area on the water, and a rooftop bean-bag space for sunbathing and stargazing. With a door that opens straight onto the water, kids aged under 15 are not allowed to stay in this zone.
