Getting Active in Asia: Water Sports

Riding Bali’s Surf

Take Indonesia’s surf head-on with a surfing lesson from Pro Surf School Bali. Surfers (beginner and intermediate) can enjoy a two-hour private lesson and take advantage of some of Southeast Asia’s best surf. The school is based on Kuta Beach on Bali’s southwest coast. Following a transfer from their hotel, guests arrive at the school where they are kitted out with the necessary equipment for a lesson: board shorts, rash-guards and a surf-board. Beginners learn on Kuta Beach’s surf, home to some of the best waves for learning on in Bali. Intermediate surfers are taken to an alternative location such as Canggu, Airport Left or Balangan Beach.

The maximum instructor-student ratio for private lessons is one instructor for up to two students.

Challenging Kerenkali Canyoning

Put your skills and nerves to the test during a day of jumps and rappels over some of Bali’s most impressive rivers and canyons. The day begins with an early morning drive to the Seririt region of northern Bali. Located in the central highlands, the area is renowned for its scenic beauty and gushing waterfalls – making it the perfect destination for water rappelling and canyoning. Refreshments upon arrival are followed by careful preparation and a full safety briefing from a certified instructor from the International Canyoning Organisation for professionals (ICOpro). Each person will learn how to perform slides, jumps and rappels as the adventure takes you through rivers, as well as over and down spectacular looking waterfalls. It is a challenging but rewarding experience for the more adventurous. Lunch will then be taken at a warung, the local term for a modest restaurant, prior to returning to your island accommodation.
