It might not be the first thing you would think arranging when planning a trip to Sapporo, but it will certainly be a highlight of any visit after trying it! Head to the lively Hakone Farm – a potato, corn, cattle and dairy farm located in beautiful countryside just one hour south of Sapporo. The factory here is devoted to making eco-friendly choices that respect the animals and environment – allowing travelers to partake in simple pleasures without leaving any damaging ecological footprints.
Guests visit the farm to learn all about farming practices and agriculture in Hokkaido; you get to meet many of the animals on the way round and even get to try your hand at milking a cow! Hokkaido dairy products are considered the cream of the crop in Japan; a farm staff member will teach how to make fresh cream cheese that can be taken as a souvenir. And the fun doesn’t finish there – guests can enjoy a horseback ride or a banana boat sled ride on the snow in winter before returning to Sapporo.
