This unique initiative allows the public to gain a deeper understanding of the challenges faced in conserving an orangutan population that is rapidly in decline. Destination Asia Malaysia is aiming to actively engage travelers in orangutan conservation by highlighting the efforts in Sarawak through a variety of educational and environmental activities. During this full day program, participants learn from a dedicated team of Sarawak Forestry experts about the challenges of orangutan rehabilitation and get to work hands-on performing everyday conservation activities at Matang Wildlife Centre. Visitors can directly see the results of successful orangutan rehabilitation, and feel they have really contributed towards this critical work. All participants receive a certificate acknowledging their contribution to Sarawak’s orangutan conservation program.
