Japan National Tourism Organisation Hosts Insightful Fam Trip

Asia Talk-JPHosted by Japan National Tourism Organisation (JNTO), five professional conference organizers (PCOs) recently experienced Japan on a six-day familiarization (fam) trip. Commencing in Tokyo where they stayed at the luxurious Conrad Tokyo, the group were able to participate in team-building activities such as taiko drumming in Asakusa and sushi-making at Tsukiji Fish Market. Riding the bullet train, the group then visited Odawara in the foothills of the hot spring region Hakone, staying at the Hilton Odawara Resort & Spa which received their praise. Kyoto, Japan’s cultural heart was their next destination. Here the group enjoyed traditional activities including origami, calligraphy and an exclusive up-close maiko (apprentice geisha) experience.

Victoria Wales, Business Director of HOT Events in New Zealand was impressed by the sheer variety of experiences on offer, commenting, “Our recent fam trip to Japan was filled with delight in discovering a new destination. My highlight was our time with the entertaining hosts at WAK in Kyoto – being challenged with calligraphy and dressing in a traditional kimono.”
