Luxurious Ryokan-Style Hotel from Starwood

Starwood Hotels & Resorts recently announced the signing of Suiran, a Luxury Collection Hotel in Kyoto. The hotel marks the first Luxury Collection property in Japan and will join a portfolio of 23 acclaimed Luxury Collection hotels in Asia Pacific. Set to open in March 2015, Suiran in Kyoto is being developed as a traditional ryokan-style accommodation. The hotel occupies part of the grounds of Tenryuji Temple, a World Heritage site that since the 1960s housed ‘Rantei,’ a well-known traditional Japanese ryokan long used by the Japanese government to entertain VIPs.

The hotel will only offer 39 rooms, creating an intimate experience that continues to deliver the luxury brand’s promises. A restaurant, spa center and meeting room also meet the needs of business travelers in Kyoto – a city abundant in historical temples and shrines that never fail to fascinate travelers.
