A new boat is available on Burma’s southern coastline and is ideal for groups wanting to explore this less-visited region. Meltemi is named after a wind in the Mediterranean Sea and is a French-built Lagoon 500, one of the most successful yachts ever designed for high-end charter. In 2015, Meltemi joined Burma Boating’s fleet for private charters, presenting an easy to sail option with winches electrically operated and full control available from the large fly-bridge. It’s a great yacht for groups of friends or families with plenty of space to play or lounge. When under sail, most guests love to lie in the nets at the bow with the water splashing below.
Virtually unknown to the outside world, the Mergui Archipelago is located in Burma’s remote south: a group of 800 deserted islands that lie at the heart of a spectacular sailing area, home to white beaches lined with palm trees and dense jungle.
