Renovation Work Starts on Myanmar’s Shwedagon Pagoda

The majestic Shwedagon Pagoda, Myanmar’s finest historic monument and landmark is undergoing restoration work and necessary maintenance. The renovation is planned to take place from October 2018 until March 2019, during which time the main Stupa will be covered in bamboo scaffolding. The first step is to renew its gold plate at the center, moving up toward the top. Then finally, from the bottom back up to the center again.

We will continue to operate itineraries to this religious site, though clients will be informed that at times, they may be unable to see the original golden stupa.
