The Unexpected Tam Thanh Mural Art Village

Located 40 km south of Hoi An is the rustic Tam Thanh mural village. Also known as Bich Hoa Village, it is one of the most undeveloped villages along the coast of Vietnam. This fishing village has garnered more attention since 2016 when a community-based joint project between Vietnam and Korea named ‘Art for a Better Community’ was launched. The exterior walls of hundreds of houses were painted following the theme, ‘the love of nature’. Local authorities appreciate these paintings concerning the environment and local life in the region, and have called upon the artists to depict more works of traditional fishing tools such as bamboo baskets and canes. Visitors are welcomed and encouraged to chat with local people, especially young people from the area, on the colorful artworks. The region is also home to a wonderful beach that is less crowded, providing the ideal resting place after perusing the rural works of art.
