This morning’s excursion in the beguiling city of Hue begins with a cyclo ride to the UNESCO listed Imperial Citadel. As well as learning about the citadel’s history, today’s visit includes a special performance of royal music & dance, and classical Vietnamese opera known as Hát tuồng. Guests witness a special production inside the citadel itself at one of just two royal theaters that remain in the city.
Once the home of a princess, the garden house visited today now belongs to a prominent local historian. Decorative pools, peaceful courtyards and stunning interiors are but a few of the delights in store and if occasion permits, there may also be the chance to meet with the owner of the home and talk about the property’s fascinating royal heritage. The morning concludes with a delicious lunch at Ancient Hue, a traditional style restaurant set in lush gardens close to the city center.
