Van Don International Airport is officially opening in Quang Ninh Province on 30th December 2018. After three years of construction, the airport is now complete and expects 2 million passengers passing through by 2020. The Airport is roughly a 45 minute drive from the UNESCO World Natural Heritage site of Halong Bay.
The opening of the airport will greatly assist those on multiday itineraries traveling through Vietnam. For those traveling north to south it will remove the requirement of an extra night in Hanoi.
