Yangon’s First Open Kitchen

Gekko is Yangon’s first true open kitchen with a charcoal fired Yakitori/Robotayaki grill. The hip restaurant can also add a cosy cocktail lounge to its name from their down-town Yangon location.

Set over two floors with a mezzanine lounge and two private rooms seating up to 12 people, Gekko lures customers in with a salivating menu that would turn heads in any cosmopolitan city. The menu is focused around charcoal fired Yakitori but includes Korean and Vietnamese dishes. The Japanese inspired cocktail menu is courtesy of Singapore’s famously discreet 28 Hong Kong Street.

This is the perfect place to drop by for a beer and Japanese tapas following a day’s exploration of the colonial architecture and hidden markets in Yangon. A fast fiber optic internet connection also allows guests to get online as they enjoy the delicious collection of cuisine and sip some unusual Sake, Shochu or Japanese whisky.
