A program full of curious exploration into the fascinating art & architecture found in Shanghai. The day begins with a visit to the Shanghai Museum, containing one of the finest collections of ancient Chinese art and antiques in the world. The distinctive building was designed in the shape of an ancient bronze cooking vessel and contains 11 permanent and 3 rotating galleries. The museum is home to over 120,000 priceless pieces, including bronze, jade, ceramics, calligraphy, sculptures, paintings, furniture, imperial seals and ancient coins.

In the afternoon guests enjoy a more hands-on experience at an antique restoration workshop. Your guide is a native English speaker with extensive knowledge of Chinese antiques who will help you communicate with a local antique expert. This is an excellent opportunity to not only study a unique collection of antique furniture, but also observe the workshop where pieces of art are restored by hand. Our expert will also provide insight on how to spot a fake!

In the afternoon guests visit a small Art Deco Furniture Shop specializing in 1930’s Art Deco furniture collected from Shanghai’s old colonial houses. This is an excellent place to purchase pristine items at very reasonable prices.
