Hilton Enters Myanmar

Hilton Worldwide recently announced the development of five Hilton Hotels and Resorts in Myanmar.

As the hospitality industry continues to flourish with more investment pouring into the country, Hilton will open three hotels over the next three years, namely Hilton Bagan and Hilton Inle Lake in 2016, and Hilton Mandalay in 2017. Two further recently opened properties will be rebranded as Hilton Nay Pyi Taw and Hilton Ngapali Beach Resort, scheduled to welcome guests from October 2014. All five hotels form part of a management agreement signed with Eden Group, one of Myanmar’s largest private companies. Hilton Nay Pyi Taw is set to open in time for the ASEAN Summit and ASEAN Plus Summit in November 2014. Within the 404,000 square meter hotel are 200 rooms, three F&B outlets and a number of meetings and events facilities.

The smaller Hilton Ngapali Beach Resort overlooks the Indian Ocean and offers 51 guestrooms, all-day dining and meeting rooms suitable for MICE groups. Hilton Bagan will offer 220 rooms; Hilton Inle Lake, 180; and Hilton Mandalay, 300 rooms. In a press statement, Hilton Worldwide said that in 2013, Myanmar witnessed an increase in visitors of over 90% from 2012.
