The Hong Kong Rugby Union and World Rugby have officially announced the rescheduling of the Cathay Pacific/HSBC Hong Kong Sevens. The tournament, originally scheduled for 3-5 April, will now be played at the Hong Kong Stadium from 16-18 October, 2020, in response to the COVID-19 outbreak and the ensuing travel and logistic implications.
World Rugby has also confirmed that the Hong Kong Sevens in October will be the final round of the 2019/2020 HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series. Hong Kong will host the 2020/2021 HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series tournament as per usual in the normal April window.
