The comprehensive renovation about to be completed at the Peninsula Hotel in Beijing marks a number of major changes. For a grand arrival, an ornate traditional Chinese arch welcomes guests to The Peninsula with a legendary sense of glamour. The refurbished entrance invites guests to enter the grand lobby which has been entirely transformed and is now dominated by a captivating grand white marble staircase up to the second level.
In a feat of engineering and architectural flair, The Peninsula Beijing’s original 525 rooms and suites have been reduced and reimagined as just 230 – starting at 60 square meters (650 square feet), they are now among the most spacious and luxurious in China. Guests can discover a collection of original artworks by renowned Chinese artists in the hotel’s lobby, hallways, and rooms. Ideally positioned in the central Wangfujing district, the Peninsula Beijing is just a short walk from Beijing’s ancient palaces and monuments, including the Forbidden City and Tiananmen Square. The first of the renovated rooms have welcomed their inaugural guests, with the rest of the inventory coming online by March 2017.
