Tourism Destinations Remain Unaffected by Clashes in Myanmar’s Northern Rakhine State

On 25 August 2017 there were attacks on security forces and ongoing violent clashes with fatalities in Northern Rakhine State in Myanmar. There have been ongoing occasional outbreaks of violence in this area near the border to Bangladesh since 2012 due to a complex political situation for decades.

We would like to inform you that Ngapali Beach in Southern Rakhine State and all tourist destinations in Myanmar are not affected by this violence and are safe to travel. Destination Asia Myanmar will continue to monitor the situation closely and we will update partners as necessary.
