Bali Art Festival

Bali Arts Festival is considered the most remarkable art festival in Indonesia. Locally known as Pesta Kesenian Bali, it runs for a whole month between June and July and involves thousands of artists from all over Bali.

First held in 1979, it has become Indonesia’s longest-running arts festival and provides an opportunity for visitors to witness Bali’s wealth of performing arts. Visitors can expect to see traditional art performances and dance routines, traditional costume contests, art exhibitions, handicrafts, authentic Balinese cuisine, and as well as seminars taking place.

The Bali Arts Festival is held at the Denpasar Arts Centre (Taman Werdhi Budaya) and begins with an opening parade in front of the Bajra Sandhi monument in Denpasar. Hundreds of participating artists from Denpasar, Bali’s eight provinces, neighbouring islands, and even art troupes from abroad, participate and showcase their best works and talents. Traditional Balinese performances take place from 9am – 10pm local time, during which comfortable clothes are recommended as most performances takes place in outdoor stages. No admission fee will be charged to visit this festival.
