Spotlight on Hong Kong’s Often Overlooked Beaches

Asia Talk-HKbeachHong Kong in many travelers’ mind is high rise living and buzzing markets – though approximately 60% of Hong Kong is natural wilderness. Quite possibly the most beautiful place in the territory is Tai Long Wan, a bay on the east coast of the Sai Kung Peninsula. The area has numerous hiking routes including sections of the picturesque Macklehose Trail. However, it is the four beaches along the bay that really stand out.

Destination Asia Hong Kong introduces guests to the area with a day trip venturing to the best beaches in Hong Kong, with as little or as much hiking as they wish. Starting with either a boat trip from Sai Kung town or a 30 minute walk to Sai Wan, we then explore the beaches, eat at local restaurants and explore nearby waterfalls. Then walk over the headland to Ham Tim beach. This walk offers sweeping views of Tai Long Wan bay and Sharp Peak, the highest mountain on the Sai Kung Peninsula.
