Expected to debut in October 2026, La Résidence Phou Vao will join Marriott’s fabled Luxury Collection as one of Luang Prabang’s most distinctive hilltop retreats. Set within expansive tropical gardens overlooking the UNESCO-protected old town and the Mekong River, the former royal guesthouse is planned to feature 41 spacious rooms and suites, adorned with traditional Laos craftsmanship, refined materials and private balconies or patios that frame stunning views of the surrounding hills.

As usual with the Marriott Luxury Collection, dining will play a major role. La Brasserie de la Residence will set classic French bistro cuisine alongside an exploratory Lao menu, prepared in open kitchens and optionally served on a tranquil poolside dining terrace. Other planned facilities include an outdoor pool, fitness facilities and a choice of wellness options and treatments at the spa.

The hotel is confidently expected to raise the bar for accommodation in Luang Prabang, a UNESCO World Heritage Site with colonial architecture, saffron-robed monks, sacred monasteries and enduring spiritual traditions. The city already has more than its share of luxurious accommodation and this new opening is set to enhance is reputation even further.
