A walk on the wild side in Malaysia’s Borneo

In the heart of the Borneo, Bilit is located on the floodplain of the immense Kinabatangan River and is a prime location for travellers who want to immerse themselves in natural surroundings. Here they are right in the midst of an incredible diversity of unique fauna and ecosystems, including oxbow lakes, limestone caves, mangrove swamps, and several different types of tropical forest.

An incredible number of species make this their habitat. Guests can spot up different types of hornbills, kingfishers, owls, kites, eagles, broadbills, doves, hawks, ospreys, falcons, pheasants, parakeets, bee-eaters, woodpeckers, pittas, flowerpeckers, spiderhunters, and still the list isn’t finished! There are also glimpses of Borneo’s wildlife that takes in the rare Bornean Pygmy elephant, endemic proboscis monkeys, gibbons, macaques, orangutans, estuarine crocodiles, sun bears and civets.

But while it’s a lifetime away from urban routine, Destination Asia has selected a range of comfortable accommodation options to ensure guests don’t have to rough it.
