Malaysia_Curtis Crest - Asia TalkThe Habitat is a superb eco-tourism center with nature at its very heart. Located on the fringes of a 130 million year old virgin rainforest on Penang Hill, it is within easy reach for visitors and provides a variety of activities that engage travelers with the surrounding landscape in a sustainable manner. Its eco-friendly attractions include, a historical 1.6km Nature Trail built in the early 1800s by the British East India Company; Canopy Bridges; a Tree Top Walk; Canopy Walkways and Zip-Lines. Visitors quickly find themselves immersed in the natural beauty of the rainforest, with specially trained naturalists available to teach about the symbiotic relationships between plants and animals – visitors may be lucky enough to catch a glimpse of one of the world’s largest squirrel species – the Giant Black Squirrel (Ratufa bicolour). Sample some of the medicinal plants and wild ginger flowers that grow wild while indulging in the sights and sounds of the rainforest.

The Habitat also provide guided night walks where experts share the magic of the rainforest after dusk. Learn about the hunting and foraging habits of the Colugo and the Red Giant Squirrel and if lucky, spot them as they soar through the air from tree to tree. The entire Nature Trail is stroller and wheel chair friendly and suitable for people of all ages, allowing the entire family to enjoy the magnificent natural environment found here.
