Homestays and Local Traditions in Vietnam

Vietnam’s capital bears an old-fashioned quality that envelops visitors, capturing their imagination and hearts with its lakes, parks, tree-lined boulevards, mansions and serene Old French Quarter.

The grandeur of Ho Chi Minh’s monumental Mausoleum, rustic simplicity of the house where ‘Uncle Ho’ lived and beautiful Temple of Literature are all finely preserved in a microcosm of Vietnamese culture and heritage.

During our 8 day program we delve deep into the culture of Vietnam, learning about its remarkable heritage and experiencing life as a local. From Hanoi we head to Da Nang and Hoi An, staying in a unique homestay villa. Here we also meet with an ethnic minority community, joining them in their activities that include a traditional gong performance and shopping in the nearby market.

Our final stop is Ho Chi Minh City; a city that encapsulates the beauty of French rural life with the revolutionary Vietnamese spirit. An orientation tour of the city on the first night helps put the city in perspective. On the back of a vintage Vespa we cruise the wide open roads, passing through downtown Ho Chi Minh City to see the famous sights before returning to the hotel. On our final days we explore the waterways and riverboat houses of the surrounding Mekong Delta region.
