Nestled deep in Cambodia’s rain forested Cardamom Mountains on the banks of the Stung Atai Dam reservoir, the community known as Osoam used to be notoriously difficult to access. But now a greatly improved road link from Battambang and Tatai makes getting there much easier, while the road journey itself is memorably beautiful. The Samanea Wellness Resort opened last year to coincide with the new route and it’s set to join Cambodia’s small but thriving collection of true luxury escapes, such as Song Saa Resort, Phum Baitong and Six Senses.

 Wellness is at the core of this sanctuary, set amid 40 hectares of lush green calm. With just 32 villas, space becomes an integral part of the luxury and days are designed with an array of restorative treatments and the simple, rare pleasure of deep rest.

Nutrition is also vital to the experience, with beautifully prepared ingredients gathered from the resort’s organic farm, which prove beyond doubt that pleasure, taste and wellbeing can share the same plate.
