2023 Gay Games to Take Place in Hong Kong

The Gay Games, one of the world’s largest inclusive sports, arts and cultural events, will be held in Hong Kong from 3-11 November, giving Asia its first opportunity to celebrate the unity and diversity that this event brings with nine whole days of sports, culture and fun.

The Games were first held in San Francisco in 1982 and have grown exponentially since then. Anyone aged 18 or over is welcome to participate, regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity, or ethnicity. The program is even designed to welcome people with limited prowess and training levels, making it truly all-inclusive.

The Games have received over 1,560 pre-registrations from 53 countries so far, with the final number of participants expected to reach 12,000. A total of 36 sports will be featured, ranging from track and field, aquatics, ball games, racquet sports and more. On top of that, there are extra events that showcase the unique character and culture of Hong Kong, such as dragon boat racing, dodgeball, e-sports. And yes, there’s even a mahjong tournament!

As well as the featured sports, highlights include grand opening and closing ceremonies, a gala concert, LGBTQ+ art exhibitions, daily performances at the Festival Village and special events all over Hong Kong.
