An Exquisite Sunset Picnic Experience in Seminyak

Canadian-born John Hardy settled in Bali in the 1970s, where he developed his talent as a craftsman jeweller into a multinational business, with designs that combine unconventional ideas, stunning re-workings of reclaimed materials and an eye for natural sustainability.  These elements are all embodied in the John Hardy Sunset Picnic, Bali’s most enchanting dining experience.

Every evening from Friday to Sunday at John Hardy Boutique & Gallery in Seminyak, guests are invited to relax on traditional straw mats and sumptuous cushions in the cool shade of an ancient temple as the sun begins to set. It’s a perfect backdrop for sampling a range of free-flow cocktails, meticulously crafted with locally sourced ingredients, courtesy of a famous local mixologist. These are perfectly complemented by a procession of authentic Balinese snacks, masterfully prepared with uncommon ingredients such as lontar sugar and cold-pressed coconut oil.

The menu varies, but signature dishes include grilled local beef, Balinese daikon, moringa soup, steamed jackfruit wrapped in banana leaves, chicken satay and nasi lawar, a totally unique Indonesian specialty that is a must-try. These are accompanied by tantalising pickles, sambals and sauces. Unfortunately, we can’t offer this experience during the rainy season which generally lasts from September to February.
