An Unfamiliar and Intriguing View of Hong Kong

Asia Talk-HongKong_Oct2016Hong Kong is full of surprises. From its rugged tree covered hills to sweeping beaches and colossal city center, the region dazzles visitors. Hong Kong is also home to one of the world’s busiest deepwater seaports. A fascinating place, the seaport is home to nine container terminals and in a single year, can see over 450,000 vessels carrying in excess of 200 million tons of cargo.

Destination Asia Hong Kong is now organizing day excursions into this shipping world that few people see from the inside. Departing on a small boat, guests go behind the scenes with an expert who spent 10 years’ working in the industry, sitting sit back in comfort as the boat ventures through the working port. Following the container port adventure we motor up the Rambler Channel and under the magnificent Lantau bridges to Park Island (Ma Wan). Guests then take a short stroll through the old, abandoned fishing village to catch a glimpse of life as it used to be. The day is then made complete with a delicious BBQ lunch on board Jungle Jane.
