This year’s Christmas celebration on Orchard Road promises to be more magnificent than ever, running from 1 November to 1 January. The anticipation builds until 16 November, when the dazzling light display is officially switched on, bringing the festive magic to life. This year it celebrates its 40th anniversary and is specially aimed at delighting children, with Christmas trees, bells, teddy bears, reindeer, candy canes, and cleverly designed turquoise “clouds” that float in the air.
A major highlight of the celebration is the Christmas Eve street party, which isn’t limited to just that night. The festivities span from Paterson Junction to Bideford Junction, with the entire stretch going car-free from 6 pm onwards. From 8 pm to 12:30 am, visitors can enjoy a delightful range of performances and activities at three villages, featuring carol singing, a festive market, fantastic food trucks, and, of course, the chance to meet Santa.
Throughout the festive period, there’s also a brilliant augmented reality projection on the facade of the Hilton Singapore Orchard and all 25 glass panels that line the pedestrian walkway from Ion Orchard to Mandarin Gallery show stunning Christmas displays.
