Thailand beaches earn five-star environmental awards

Koh Kradan in Trang province and Bileh Beach on Koh Hong in Krabi have been recognised among Thailand’s top-performing coastal destinations, earning five-star ratings in the Beach Star 2025 environmental assessment program.

Awarded by Thailand’s Pollution Control Department, the Beach Star initiative evaluates and benchmarks the environmental quality of the country’s most visited beaches. In 2025, just 20 beaches were shortlisted, with only half achieving scores between 4.5 and five stars. These top-tier ratings reflect not only exceptional natural beauty, but also strong standards in sustainability, cleanliness, and visitor management.

Koh Kradan stands out for its powdery white sand, crystal-clear waters, and outstanding snorkelling, often considered among the best across the Trang archipelago. Meanwhile, Koh Hong captivates with its emerald lagoon, calm turquoise sea, and striking limestone cliffs that define the Krabi coastline.

Both destinations feature within Destination Asia’s curated Thailand experiences, offering seamless access to some of the country’s most pristine island settings. Koh Kradan is included in our multi-day southern Andaman island-hopping journeys, while Koh Hong can be explored on expertly guided day excursions from Krabi, designed to maximise both comfort and discovery.
