A monster development lands at Japan’s Haneda airport

Get ready to meet the king of monsters like never before as the world’s largest Godzilla takes over Tokyo’s Haneda Airport this December. Travellers passing through the international Terminal 3 departure lobby will be greeted by a colossal statue stretching an incredible 40 meters in length and nine meters in height. The statue has been designed in collaboration with Godzilla’s original film studio, Toho, to give the impression that it is bursting dramatically into the airport from outside.

The experience continues on the arrivals level, where dynamic graphics showcase many of Japan’s legendary kaiju monsters from across the decades. Visitors will also find another striking Godzilla statue inspired by the blockbuster Godzilla Minus One, creating a multi-layered tribute to the country’s iconic sci-fi history.

Running until December 2026, the installation connects Godzilla’s deeply Japanese roots to the heart of modern travel, turning Haneda Airport into a living tribute to one of Japan’s most enduring cultural icons. The enormous figure in the departures area and the surrounding displays also offer striking photo opportunities and an unforgettable experience for fans of the legendary monster.
