Changes to the Sales and Service Tax in Malaysia

The Royal Malaysian Customs Department has recently made changes to the tax rates outlined in the Service Tax Act 2018.

Starting March 1, 2024, the service tax rates under this legislation increased from 6% to 8% across all taxable services, with exceptions for specific sectors such as food and beverages, telecommunication services, and parking spaces provision.

Following this announcement clients should anticipate an additional 2% SST (Sales and Services Tax) on all impacted rates from this date.
