Cycling Through History

Discover the enthralling history of Mui Wo on Lantau Island, including the oldest Man Mo Temple in Hong Kong (at over 400 years) and ancient silver mine villages. Located in the Southeast of Lantau Island Mui Wo, boasts five hills, resembling a plum blossom, with the bowl-shaped Butterfly Hill in the middle. We travel by ferry from Hong Kong Island, passing rugged mountainous islets before pulling in to the port at Mui Wo where we collect our bikes and set off along the quiet countryside trails. We pass through the old silver mining villages and temples before stopping for lunch at a local family run Cha Chaan Tang that has been passed down through generations. Following lunch we hop on our bikes and visit Silver Mine Waterfall, learning about the local history including child kings fleeing the Mongols during the 13th century. This is a great way to escape the city and explore a lesser known side to Hong Kong. The ride is not very strenuous as we include plenty of stops along the way.
