After its original opening date was postponed due to the pandemic, the operators of Eagle’s Nest Skywalk are delighted to announce that it finally opened in March this year. A full 650 metres above sea level, this is thought to be the world’s longest freestanding glass deck, perched on the peak of Matchinchang Mountain, offering a true eagle’s eye view of Langkawi Island and the glorious Andaman Sea.
Structured on a 38-meter cantilever platform, the Skywalk is inspired by the icon of Langkawi Island – the eagle. Its intelligent design cleverly emulates an environment that eagles would nest in and survey their domain, with a brilliant eagle’s head motif and its clear glass bottom giving a stunning new perspective of the lush rainforest below.
Rising to the Eagle’s Nest Skywalk is an unforgettable thrill in itself, as it’s reached with a 15-minute ride on the Langkawi Cable Car, which features glass-bottomed gondolas for memorable, ever changing views of the rainforest and mountain range.
