Travelife for Tour operators, a leading global sustainability scheme for the tour operator sector who Destination Asia is working closely with to improve sustainability efforts, has achieved accreditation by the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC). The awarded status affirms Travelife’s for Tour Operators commitment to promoting sustainable tourism products and services. GSTC establishes and manages global sustainable tourism standards with the aim of increasing sustainable tourism knowledge and practices among public and private stakeholders. Achieving GSTC-Accredited status means that a certification program is following processes and procedures that have been reviewed and approved by the GSTC Accreditation Panel.

Destination Asia Thailand was awarded Partner status by Travelife in October 2017. Destination Asia Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore are currently Travelife engaged, steering their practices along more sustainable paths with the aim of achieving Travelife Partner by mid-2018. To achieve partner level, each destination must comply with more than 200 criteria, related to operators’ office management, product range, supply chain and customer information. The Travelife standard covers ISO 26000 Corporate Social Responsibility themes, including environment, biodiversity, human rights, and labor relations, and is formally recognized as in full compliance with the UN-supported Global Sustainable Tourism Criteria.
