Destination Asia Cambodia recently conducted a site inspection of Phnom Penh’s all-new Techo International Airport to report on the enhancements and what this means for travellers to Cambodia.
The transfer from downtown now takes just 45 minutes via a new, less congested route. Upon arrival, visitors are greeted by the airport’s stunning architecture spanning 26 million sqm, designed by Foster + Partners at a cost of USD 1.5 billion. The design beautifully integrates traditional Khmer motifs while prioritising sustainability, making it a major draw for eco-conscious travelers and corporate events.
Inside, the layout ensures smooth passenger flow with fast-track e-gates, a wide selection of premium shops, and international restaurants. This combination enhances the traveler experience and simplifies logistics for large groups, positioning the airport as an ideal hub for meetings, incentives, and leisure travel.
The airport will soon welcome new long-haul services including Etihad Airways’ direct Abu Dhabi–Phnom Penh route and upcoming plans from Turkish Airlines, further establishing Phnom Penh as an accessible and attractive destination for global travellers.
