Indian Heritage Centre Now Open in Singapore

The Indian Heritage Centre opened earlier this month with a variety of workshops and performances taking place throughout May as part of a month-long culture festival. The heritage centre has been heralded as a site of historical and cultural significance for visitors with a number of permanent and temporary exhibitions to see. From the origins of Indian migration to Pre-colonial, colonial and Post-colonial settlement, routes minorities have followed are explored through interactive displays and precious artifacts.

Visitors can also look forward to the opening of the Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre at the end of 2016, and the enhancement of the Malay Heritage Centre’s permanent galleries. Over the next five years, S$25 million will be spent to fund traditional arts groups. The Government will also look into developing the Stamford Arts Centre at Waterloo Street with a focus on the traditional arts.
