Last week our team from Destination Asia Cambodia visited the Smiling Gecko Farmhouse, an NGO run project located in Kompong Chhnang Province in the shadow of Phnom Aoral, Cambodia’s highest mountain. Just 90 minutes north of Phnom Penh, this beautiful region remains completely unspoiled and the farmhouse project offers homestay style lodgings – finished and run to an international 4 star standard! Profits benefit the local community and families from some of Phnom Penh’s poorest slums who are given the chance to relocate to the farmhouse project and start a new life with their families. Guests enjoy a truly authentic and comfortable experience, taking in the farm project, enjoying the fantastic pool, visiting local markets, floating villages and artisans and taking a ride on a real working Bamboo Train.
