Get a taste of the forest life with a walk that offers an introduction to jungle survival and a glimpse into the traditional lives of Borneo’s forest dwellers. Starting from Kiau Nuluh village, the journey begins with a moderate hike of just over an hour through spectacular scenery, leading to the Miki Survival Camp. Hikers should be prepared for the rocky, muddy terrain, which is home to occasional leeches, by wearing sturdy hiking boots and leech socks.
Along the way, there are ample opportunities to marvel at the untouched beauty of nature. The hike concludes at the camp just in time for lunch, featuring delicious homemade food prepared in the local style. After a well-earned lunch break, a short educational walk follows, offering the chance to make animal traps, start a fire, fashion simple utensils from bamboo, identify medicinal plants, find edible jungle fruits and plants, and even build a jungle hut.
As night falls, an amazing experience awaits. Armed with torchlights and cameras, hikers embark on a fascinating night tour. At this magical time, nocturnal creatures like fireflies, frogs, and insects, as well as luminous fungi, come to life, creating an unforgettable spectacle in the dark.
