A world class event in Bali to recognise world leading technology supplier’s best executives

Group: 450-500 executives whose outstanding talent and commitment have made them members of an exclusive club.

Brief: A celebration spread over three days, held on the grounds of the Bali Intercontinental Hotel.

Our aim was to create an event that offered the most prestigious possible standards, a high level of glamour and a consistent – and consistently beautiful – Balinese theme. This was apparent to delegates from the moment they entered through the traditional Balinese heaven gates and took in the authentically tropical ambiance. Even the award plaques handed to the delegates were crafted with an unmistakeably Balinese look.

But while the look and feel were traditional, the equipment was strictly 21st century, from the glamorous Hollywood-style backdrop where arrivals paused to pose for photos, to the state-of-the-art sound, lighting, and multimedia facilities.

There were three key moments in the festivities: a welcome reception, an awards lunch and a final celebration dinner, with the location changing for each event and the décor and arrangements modified to suit the occasion.

The layout for the welcome reception was designed for plenty of movement, catching up with friends and colleagues and casual networking, offering buffet-style food and beverage stops. Entertainment was provided by a local ensemble playing traditional bamboo rindik instruments in the background, then a closing DJ set.

At the more formal end of the scale, the closing night’s awards dinner invited 500 guests to take their seats and feast, accompanied by displays of fire dancing, drumming, mesmerising “thousand hands” dancing. Finally, an all-out, stomping band played live and filled the dancefloor against a sensational backdrop lit by flashing lights and the explosion of fireworks.

Extreme weather can play a part in events in Indonesia, and this was no exception. When it became apparent that some fast footwork was needed, as our very satisfied client describes it, the team “jumped into action to re-set half the outdoor space into the tent and tear down half of the already set lawn space. No small task 4 hours prior to start time. And, they did so willingly with positive attitudes.” On a final note, in a letter of appreciation, the client added, “I cannot express enough how much your entire team made this program a success! Please share my gratitude and appreciation for the Destination Asia Indonesia team – you cannot find better representatives for your organization.”
