In July of this year, Destination Asia Japan launched its plan to update its sustainability contract with targeted guides in order to strengthen the implementation of responsible travel. Since then, over 100 sustainability contracts have been signed.
As per the new contract, all guides are now required to read Destination Asia’s Responsible Travel brochure, Responsible Travel Tips & Guidelines, and Sustainability Policy, and complete online Travelife training courses. The documents were distributed to 30-40 guides every month by the FIT operation teams, who have now reached the fourth phase, and more than 50 guides have already completed the two online Travelife courses.
The Destination Asia Japan team have received positive feedback from the guides who have been grateful and appreciative for this learning opportunity.
