Bali has been named ‘Most Popular Destination in the World’ in TripAdvisor’s annual Travelers’ Choice Awards: Best of the Best. The Island of the Gods as well as Indonesia itself also earned mentions in a number of the other categories encompassed by the TripAdvisor Reader’s Poll.
According to the travel platform, ‘Popular Destinations’ include the locations that travellers raved about most on TripAdvisor in the past year and comprise some of the world’s most iconic cities. The accolade demonstrates that Bali’s semi-lockdown status and ongoing closure to foreign visitors have done little to detract from the island’s popularity as a tourism destination.
It’s also not the first time Bali has made it onto a travel website’s top list. Last year Bali topped Agoda’s list of most-searched post-pandemic destinations by Indonesian travellers and Indonesia ranked globally in 10th spot in the top searched-for destinations among all traveller groups.
