Hong Kong festival celebrating Chinese culture

Running from June through September, Chinese Culture Festival returns with an extensive program celebrating the depth, diversity and continuing evolution of Chinese arts and heritage in Hong Kong. The annual festival highlights the city’s role as a cultural crossroads, bringing together traditional performance arts, contemporary productions and community-led cultural initiatives.

This year’s program features nearly 300 events spanning Chinese opera, music, dance, theatre, film and exhibitions, with performances from leading artists and cultural groups from both Hong Kong and mainland China. Among the festival highlights are productions by four major Peking Opera troupes, alongside The Code of The Dynasty, a Song Dynasty-inspired suspense drama combining theatrical storytelling with large-scale acrobatic performances.

Beyond the headline performances, community participation remains a central focus of the festival. Schools, cultural organisations and business partners across Hong Kong are contributing to the wider program through collaborative events and educational activities designed to encourage broader engagement with Chinese cultural traditions.

With events taking place across multiple venues throughout the city, the festival provides visitors with an opportunity to experience both the historical foundations and contemporary interpretations of Chinese performing arts while exploring Hong Kong’s dynamic cultural landscape.
