Learn to Live by Local Means in Laos

Asia Talk-laosTravelers should be prepared to get their hands dirty when arriving at the Living Land Project in Luang Prabang, a sustainable initiative set up for visitors to learn about the importance of farming methods and how the produce can help support local communities. Here the visitors do not sit around and watch how it’s done – they get stuck in and experience it for themselves.

The rice farming experience is particularly popular, introducing visitors to the labor intensive processes involved in ploughing and planting rice in the paddies. Only employing locals and helping to train young members of the community, the project provides many great benefits for local people – all within an idyllic countryside setting framed by rising mountains and ancient rice terraces.
