New culinary tour around Koh Samui

Aroy mahk” means “very delicious” in Thai and it’s a safe bet that foodie adventurers will say it several times over when they take this thoughtfully designed culinary tour of Koh Samui.

The experience begins with a sample of khao yum, a Thai rice salad that’s as healthy and colourful as it is delicious.

Then there’s a tour of a traditional local market, taking in the sights and beautiful aromas of sometimes unfamiliar fresh fruits and herbs. The next stop is a charming wooden house nestled within a lush organic garden, where a local herbalist will serve a centuries-old Thai snack known as miang kham, an appetiser bursting with flavours containing a range of ingredients believed to aid digestion and rebalance the body, wrapped in a tightly folded betel leaf. No journey would be complete without also sampling pad kra paow, a stir fry flavoured with fresh basil leaves which is beloved all over Thailand and is thought by many to rank higher than pad thai as the country’s national dish.

Following this mouthwatering experience, there’s another fresh market tour and guests are often amazed at the way the market takes on a whole new character and atmosphere after sundown. An expert guide leads the guests through this vibrant market, hand-picking favorite foods for them to try and bringing them a taste of the real flavours of Thailand.

The last stop is where some of the island’s best coconut ice cream is made – and we promise it is a total treat!
