Singapore adds an oceanic twist to National Day

As Singapore National Day celebrations take place across the city on 9 August, Singapore Oceanarium will mark the occasion with a special one-day program celebrating the nation’s strong connection to the sea and marine conservation.

A highlight of the event will be an underwater presentation of the Singapore flag performed by professional divers within the Oceanarium’s main habitat, paying tribute to Singapore’s maritime heritage. The program will also feature educational talks focused on local marine ecosystems, alongside family-friendly appearances from the venue’s popular mascots, Sam the Shark and Manja the Manta Ray.

Visitors can further extend the experience throughout August with dining offerings at Malaysia Food Street, where regional specialities and heritage-inspired dishes will be showcased as part of the wider celebrations. Featured dishes include Ang Kar dry prawn noodles served with homemade sambal chilli, alongside slow-cooked beef cheek claypot rice with foie gras.

To coincide with the event, Destination Asia Singapore has introduced the Singapore Oceanarium National Yay! Package, combining admission to the celebrations with selected local dining experiences. The package offers visitors an opportunity to experience Singapore National Day through a combination of culture, cuisine and family-friendly entertainment.
