Singapore hosts premier women’s art show

Singapore’s A Gallery has blazed a trail for exhibitions that encourage local participation and combine diversity with creativity. This latest, uplifting exhibition is a prime example of this as it showcases the work of some of Asia’s finest female artists.

Hong Kong’s Kacey Ko creates landscapes that are both visually fascinating and deeply meaningful. They contrast thrillingly with the work of Cassandra Lau, also from Hong Kong, who focuses on the constrained, concentrated urban life that characterises much of the territory. Evangeline Ang is a local Singaporean artist with a passion for nature, light, colours and textures while artist Evelyn Teo explores the beauty found in different cultures, architectures and landscapes in her works.

Fumiko Toda takes inspiration from her childhood in Japan, influenced by growing up in the countryside then living in big cities in her adulthood. The line-up is completed by Cindy Cal, a Chinese artist based in Beijing, who takes inspiration from observing nature, especially the movement, colour and beauty of flowers.

The show runs from 13 March to 10 May and the gallery is open Tuesday to Friday from 11:30am to 5pm.
