George Town’s charming old buildings and fascinating streets are renowned, and they take center stage at the George Town Festival (GTF) 2024, scheduled from July 19 to July 28. The GTF team has innovatively transformed the town’s atmospheric areas into dynamic performance spaces and public art galleries, guided by the central theme of “Here & Now,” breaking away from traditional ideas of arts venues.
With creative activities popping up in alleyways, eateries and parks, the festival is sure to pique people’s imaginations. It features over 70 programs, some ticketed but many of them free, with renowned foreign performers and up-and-coming local artists. Attractions include five featured plays that cut across language boundaries, complemented by a diverse range of modern Jingju, contemporary theatre, dance theatre, visual theatre and mime.
